RYA NATIONAL POWERBOAT CERTIFICATE (LEVEL 2)
To teach boat handling and seamanship in powerboats
This two-day entry-level course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence (ICC).
It focuses on low-speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planing speed, and collision regulations.
Duration: 2 days
Minimum Age: 12 yrs
Note: The majority of the course is practical and afloat but there will be several hours of theory work required ashore. The remainder of the theory work will be carried out through the course while afloat.

- Rules of the road(IRPCS)
- Charts, chart symbols, buoyage systems.
- Passage planning
- Emergency & safety procedures.
After successful completion of the course, students will be capable of handling powerboats in a safe and controlled manner with confidence and enjoyment. Once the RYA powerboat level 2 completion certificate has been awarded, the ICC International Certificate of Competence can be applied for from the RYA.
